Autumn Uprising

October 16–18, 1998
at Eliot Hall
Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts

The second annual Autumn Uprising festival, three days of (mostly) Boston-area improvised music. The festival roars back with 17(!) different ensembles. This year features many of Boston’s younger musicians as well as established performers who have been on the “scene” for quite a while. The inclusion of Sabir Mateen and Jack Wright, saxophonists from out of town, should not only provide great music, but will also contextualize Boston’s post-Ayler scene as one of depth and power, not just some place other than New York City.
